“The Dying” shows The Berkshires during Autumn of 2022, one of the most glorious seasons of color I have seen in my lifetime of living here. The changing of the leaves weighed on me with their brilliance. The glory and the magnificence was ephemeral. I felt graced with its presence. I did not want it to last forever. I was not clinging to some imagined future with perpetual Autumn leaves. But their last gasp was so expressive, exuberant, and palpable, that with every encounter I was stopped in my tracks, my heart broken open, appreciating just how much they were giving before death.
